#18927 — Pan newsreader question

FromLloyd E Parsons <lloydp21@live.com>

SubjectPan newsreader question
Message-ID<l4miqe$k21$1@dont-email.me>
Earlier I read either here or in comp.sys.mac.apps about Pan.

I looked at it, but cannot figure out if there is a package that
installs or if it is something that I'd have to compile. It looks
interesting, but I'm not going to fiddle with source and compiling.

So is there a package available ready to install and run? And if so,
where is it.

Thanks.

Use Fink if you want to make it easy to install Pan. IIRC it's one of
the packages they have. If not try DarwinPorts.

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

Brew seems to have superseded both Fink and Ports.

"MacPorts driving you to drink? Try Homebrew!"

I am trying out Pan in a Linux instance under VMware Fusion, and this is
posted via XPN, a Python newsreader.

Both Pan and XPN require GTK, so if anyone knows of a port of that, it
would be useful. I did find instructions for compiling it, but they
referred to Tiger...

No, Brew has not superseded MacPorts.

MacPorts is still around and has not been superseded.
