#43608 — Finder, Hidden folder

FromIwan <pfackelmann@gmx.net>
Date2018-11-06 13:18 +0100
SubjectFinder, Hidden folder
Message-ID<prs0pq$ua9$1@news.albasani.net>
Since years I have a hidden folder.
Now after the security update for 10.13.6 it is visible with every
system start.
The folder name has a leading period.

What can I do?

Thanks in advance.

Peter

There's a feature in the Finder to "reveal all hidden files". Turn it off
using one of the Finder config apps like Onyx or an app specifically designed
to do this (most have the term Invisibility in the name). Or write an
AppleScript to toggle this feature.

Your call. Got code?

Thank you, Percival -

Onyx - Parameter - Show invisible files* - unmark
does the job.

* already unmarked - obviously necessary to unmark it explicitly.
Similar to the period on the filename which should normally be enough.

Perhaps a script would be even more explicit but that's beyond my skills.

Peter

TinkerTool also will do it.

These days, all you usually need to do is press Cmd+Shift+period to
toggle hidden files.

Clum -

that wasn't the problem.
The folder was already "toggle", the folder name had a period but showed
up nevertheless at the system start.
