I too use 2.1.1. That is just one of the reasons I prefer Unison 1.8.1 over 2.2, or even any of the v.2 releases. I find alt.binaries.pictures.aviation to be the NG where binary issues are most annoying with Unison 2.2. > For text (99% of my usenet ops), Thunderbird is fine. I use TB from time to time, but for now I just use Unison 1.8.1 or 2.2 depending on how the mood takes me. -- Regards, Savageduck

1. Get it. You never know if it will be available in the future.
2. Get Thunderbird. Not great? Who cares? It works, if not by
pleasing everyone - and it's likely to be around longer -
probably longer than any other Mac newsreader.

It is clunky, but effective and is supported.

There's obviously something I'm doing wrong, but I'm fed up. Just downloaded MacSoup, which seems to have decent instructional material. Keeping Thunderbird in mind as well. I don't want a big list on the iPad, but at this rate I may yet end up with most of them here. -- Erilar, biblioholic medievalist with iPad

That, in a nutshell, is why 100% of my real-world friends could never cut usenet. They couldn't figure out how to get it set-up. > Just downloaded MacSoup, which seems to have decent instructional material. > Keeping Thunderbird in mind as well. I was having problems, until I unchecked the SSL button, and then, my eternal-september server got the green check and all the newsgroups just started to download! Get ES, and set it up as per the instructions, but not with SSL!
