#21341 — Numbers and Google

FromJohn McWilliams <jpmcw@comcast.net>

SubjectNumbers and Google

I've recently agreed to try to help a non-profit group with their e-mail
list, something under 500 entries. It was sent me last night and to my
surprise it was a series of Google spread sheets. Can I use them to weed
duplicates automatically or do I have to import into something else such
as Pages.

Spreadsheets should be converted to CSV then you can use cat+sort+uniq
to create a merged list (assuming the naming and field order is
consistent). But you're probably not that lucky and those spreadsheets
will have different names for the same thing or misspellings or a
different column name or order. You'll have to reduce this by hand.
