#18715 — Exces Encryption Incompatible?

On a Mac with Mavericks my encrypted folder will not open with the
correct password. The Exces web site at Mhttp://www.excesapp.com> says
nothing about Mavericks. Anyone know anything about this?

TIA!

Nope, but I am curious why one would choose to use a third-party utility
for this when the OS natively supports encrypted disk images.

So that they'll have something to complain about when there's
an upgrade?

Since when is a request for assistance a complaint?

Tried this, didn't work. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Here is a workaround that just succeeded for me.

I have an old Macbook that I never upgraded to Mavericks. It is still running Mountain Lion. I connected this via USB to an external hard disk on which exists a backup copy of the encrypted disk image. I then used the Mountain-Lion laptop to open the disk. As it did not have Exces installed, I clicked on "Show Package Contents" and followed your procedure.

And this worked. Now I am transfering the files to another disk (and another encryption method!).

This confirms that the trouble is an incompatibility between Mavericks and Exces. And it also confirms that if you have access to a computer running a pre-Mavericks OS, you can get at your Exces-encrypted files.

Exactly the same on my side... Contacted the Support Team but nothing but senseless automated answers. Will keep you updated if I find a solution.
