I am using and iMac with Mavericks. For years I have been using an app I purchased called You Control from You Software. It worked very well with Mavericks but now the app is asking me to register. As a paid owner of the app I have registration code. However, You Control once to go online when I click register.

Since you software no longer exists I get the message that the connection was not able to be made. And, of course there is no company support.

I have the disk image for the software on my computer. Can you tell me how to get You Control past the registration request. It is a great program and has helped me in my efficiency. So I would be grateful to have it up and running again. Thank you for any suggestions you can share.

I see some alternative software here that might do a similar job for
you:

The standard thing for such is to block there registration requests in
/etc/hosts by replacing the hostname's IP it's attempting to use with
127.0.0.1. Or blocking the request with Little Snitch.

You can't turn it off or get the remote server to respond, so that's not
possible. If it won't run without registering, it's dead.

I had a couple of similar problems. OS 10.9 installer apparently
trashed a few preference files. All items from Lemke (GraphicConverter,
etc.) and Microsoft Office demanded license keys.

Lemke sent me a new copy of the keys, but remembering how painful it is
to talk to Microsoft, I just searched for every file that had
"microsoft" as part of the file name, and replaced each one from my
other bootable partition.
