I've gotten email from Brian, the developer and he provided me a test
copy of a newer version of Thoth that isn't quite ready for release.

The one thing he put in there that I asked about was automatic checking
for new messages on a timed basis.  It is there in this version and it
works fine.

This was specifically added to aid MTNW users in transitioning to Thoth
if they so desired.  While he hasn't given a timeframe for release of
this version, I wouldn't expect it to be too long.
