Hi. I've been interested in getting a recipe program that can
consolidate the ingredients from multiple recipes into one shopping
list. I also want a program that has good meal planning features. In my
search for such a program, I came across Cook'n for Mac:

http://www.dvo.com/mac-software.php

However it's very expensive: it's $79.95

Also, there is no demo so I can't try it out and it looks like the Mac
version may be a crappy PC port.

But I'm wondering if anyone has tried it and can provide their opinion.

Thanks.

Sky

I've been using Yum, which is no longer developed. It doesn't do all
the meal planning and ingredient culling.

There are a bunch of other recipe programs.

https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15128/macgourmet

is $24.95. That page also lists other recipe programs you should check
out. Find the one that has the features you want. They're ALL $20 or
less.

If you are willing to buy without any sort of demo period, the App Store
has recipe apps.

I haven't tried it - only read about it. And what I read didn't suite my
needs. So instead I began to look for other apps like that and one of
them comes from the developers of MarinerWrite - the MacGourmet and
MacGourmet Deluxe.

The MacGourmet is a stripped-down version of the Deluxe edition with
quite a fewer features. The MacGourmet Deluxe is one of the most
out-built apps of it's kind with so many features that it took me a long
time to really find out, /what/ is is capable of...

It can handle recipes, diatrist nutrition, meal plans, shopping lists,
ingredience libraries, meal plan libraries, nutrition libraries,
nutrition values and much much more.

You can read more about it here and also download a demo version. Price
for boxed or download version is $49,95USd. - It is worth every cent!

<https://www.marinersoftware.com/products/macgourmet/>

It is also usable in some non Enblish languages. 2-3 years ago I
translated the ver. 3 of the Deluxe into Danish, but due to some
incompatibilities I haven't been able until now to continue the
translation, so still only parts of the new ver. 4.x will show up in
Danish. I hope soon to be able to take up the translation again now that
I have newer hardware which will make it compatible again.

It was through this translation work I found out how great the
MacGourmet Deluxe is for any modern kitchen. - Try it and I'm sure that
you'll say the same.

NOTE: I donot get any fee when someone buys the MGD, since my
translation work is/was non-paid work. I did it just for fun!

cheers, Erik Richard
