Are you going to jump right in on 18 Sep and install it or be cautious
and wait to see for a week or so?

FWIW I'm for wait and see.

I tend to be an early adopter. Thousands of developers have tested iOS
7 and pronounced it Good. I'm going to install it ASAP on my 4S, then,
if all is well, I'll install it on my wife's phone.

and thousands more have tested it and pronounced it 'not done yet' and
still somewhat buggy, including the golden master.

apple even had to remove the icloud keychain feature to meet the
release schedule.

Since I'm new to iOS I think I will hold off about a week for the dust
to settle and install it then. iOS 7 is the most major thing to happen
since iOS so it might pay to let any oopsies get worked out by "early
adopters" first. I have an iPhone 5 so maybe I can jump on the bandwagon
and not worry, but then there's the traffic issue and whether Apple's
servers can handle the uptick. I don't feel like waiting forever and a
day for the download.

Do OTA upgrades work over LTE or does it require WiFi?

Will it change my usage as far as storage (I have a 16 GB phone) much?
Will it drain my battery faster?

I do anticipate the upgrade, but patience is a virtue.

wise move.

their servers will undoubtedly be overloaded.

they really fucked up with ios 2 or 3 (not sure which), when they
released the new iphone at the same time as releasing the new ios
version, and that completely overwhelmed their servers, so much so that
new iphones could not be activated because the servers weren't
responding. it's quite a bit worse when you have a customer in the
store and can't activate their phone.

now they stagger the release, with ios coming out a few days before the
phones do (plus they have upgraded their servers too). that spreads the
load, at least a little bit.

nevertheless, there still might be activation issues on friday.

> Do OTA upgrades work over LTE or does it require WiFi?

either way, and also usb via itunes.

> Will it change my usage as far as storage (I have a 16 GB phone) much?

slightly less free space than before.

> Will it drain my battery faster?

it is designed to drain your battery *less*, not more.

however, there may be bugs where it doesn't work properly.

> I do anticipate the upgrade, but patience is a virtue.

it can be.

I've never had issues with capacity on major release days. Remember
they released OS X 10.8.5 and an iTunes update today too. Their stuff
can handle it. ;)

I updated both my iPhone and iPad.
Worked great. However it took 7 tries to download on and authenticate
the upgrade on my iPhone and 8 tries on my iPad.

which means their servers still can't handle the load.

I was having similar problems but found that updating through (the
updated) iTunes via USB connection to be relatively quick.

no it can't. people had numerous timeouts all day long. their servers
were seriously overloaded. itunes also said it needed updating even
when it didn't. quite a bit was broken.

So far the only thing I see aggravating with the new system is having to
punch in pass code before you can do any thing.

You can disable that under settings|general|passcode lock...but do write
down the passcode you created when you did the initial setup after the
system upgrade.

I just wish that I had been as cautious with iTunes 11.1 :-(

Old news. It was out on September 26th.

they didn't push it to everyone at the same time.

some people got it only a day or two ago.

and he didn't say when it came out anyway. what he said was correct,
that 7.0.2 is now out, and it is.

It is awful on an iPad mini. You need magnifying glasses to be able to
read. The texts have decreased in size. Worst design ever.

no they haven't.

the problem is you have an ipad mini. everything on an ipad mini is
smaller than a regular ipad. that has nothing to do with ios 7. it was
like that with ios 6 too.

however, what ios 7 does do is offer dynamic text sizing, so just make
the text bigger, and you can also make it bold systemwide too. it's
actually *more* readable than before.
