Considering that it hasn't been updated since Leopard, and was beta
then, I strongly doubt that it will ever be updated again. The
author's web site hasn't been updated since November 11, 2007.

I moved to Thoth, which as near as dammit is the same thing.

Well, there are things wrong and these have been documented many
times. But I use it and am happy enough. I have got used to spell
check bugs (documented by me in the past), and other things. Bit like
riding my first Vespa fifty years back now, an el cheapo second hand
one that had a twisted front end (you had to force it a certain way to
keep it going in a straight line!). So used to it did i become that
when I rode a friend's good Vespa, his scooter seemed crook in the
front end.

It doesn't work in Mavericks, from what I've read.

And for which reason I moved to Thoth, which appears largely
indistinguishable from MT-NW.

The problem is that MTNW used an API that was deprecated after it was
written, and removed with Mavericks.

No, the real problem is that Erilar devalues any software update that
does not maintain 100% backwards compatibility.

Not exactly. I object to 0% backward compatibility.

When you act as if any change at all in behavior is a complete loss of
compatibility, as you are oft to do, everything has 0% backward
compatibility.

Not really. There used to be a lot of it, but every recent "up"grade dumps
large percentages of it.

It seems thatball manner of software programs are deprecated by Mavericks,
which is why I can't buy an iPad Air despite the fact that I could afford
to.

The iPad Air doesn't run Mavericks. I assume it's running IOS 7.

That's the only way you can buy it. My laptop, which has all the backups,
isn't running an OS that would be compatible with iOS 7, judging from past
performance. The old iPad can't go beyond OS 5, which IS compatible with
my laptop, but that particular OS "up"date caused enough problems that I
don't plan to go that route in the near future.

unless you're running 10.5 or earlier, it definitely is compatible.

all you need is itunes 11.1 or later, which runs on 10.6.

and actually, you don't even need itunes at all. you can sync to the
cloud.
