I've been holding off upgrading to 10.13 because SD! couldn't handle the 
new file system and I had to use it on my MBP.  Now it can.

carbon copy cloner has supported it for months.

I am aware of that but I've used SD! for years and never felt like 
converting.  I've finally started to use Time Machine so maybe it 
wouldn't be so bad.  Nevertheless, I won't have to now.

There is not conversion involved. It would be like saying you are
converting from text editor 1 to text editor 2.

Right.  Starting to use would be more appropriate.  I have been using 
SD! and didn't really want to switch and start to use CCC.
