#21438 — Photoshop Elements in Mavericks

From"John Varela" <newlamps@verizon.net>
Date2014-03-09 23:55 +0000
SubjectPhotoshop Elements in Mavericks
Message-ID<51W5y0sPNk52-pn2-U81kVMMVpMdD@localhost>
I just upgraded to Mavericks and now Photoshop Elements 8 won't
launch.
Instead of launching, PSE says "Licensing for this product has
stopped working" and "Error: 150:30".

I went to the Adobe web site and found a page for this problem.
Following the instructions I deleted the ~/user/Library files for
Flexnet and downloaded LicenseRecovery 111, which wouldn't run. My
guess it was written for an earlier version of OS X.

I put the problem on an Adobe forum and got 47 reads and no replies.

Does anyone here have a suggestion?

Purchase the newest version 12, for about $70, has many more tools and
better organized interface. Better than wasting your time trying to
make a very old model to work.

Yeah, time to upgrade Photoshop Elements :)

I tried Elements 11 and it has no feature improvements other than a
bigger number after the name. It's still butt-ugly, slow, buggy, and
nearly impossible to use with alpha channels.

That may be true - but it works on Mavericks, does it not? That's certainly
a feature upgrade :)

So does PSE 8. Upgraded here to OS 10.9.2 - no new issues that I'm aware of.

I had the same problem and went through all the various fixes to no
avail.
In my case the solution was to just delete the original program with
every other associated file, and to re-install. This worked and it's
working perfectly under Mavericks.

Why buy new or upgrade if the old version works and suits you.

FWIW, I am using PSE 6 on Mavericks and it works very well. It is much
faster on the MBP Retina than on my older MBP, but likely because of
the SSD.

I haven't upgraded because v6 suits me fine and the newer features seem
to be more for beginners anyhow.

PSE 6 works well for me on Mavericks too.

The only thing it seems to be missing, AFAIAC, is the ability to stitch
pictures together. PSE 2 had that and I miss it. IIRC, that feature has
returned in PSE (10? 11?).

Doesn't the panorama feature in PSE6 do that?

Never mind. I find Adobe's web site difficult to use but on my
second time around I did find a solution that worked.

For the record in case someone needing help googles up this thread,
see

9. Reply 9 is from me.
