The retail box for iWork '09 (the version current as of Snow Leopard) looked like the one in this picture: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MB942Z-A-iWork-09/dp/B0014X2UAK/ The DVD has a similar picture on it. If you really can't find it, buying another one from somewhere like Amazon is an option. iWork '09 was also available as part of a "Mac Box Set" (including Mac OS X and iLife), of which there were a few versions, which looked like this: http://www.amazon.com/Mac-Box-Set-10-6-3-Version/dp/B002I0JKE2/ This box contained three smaller carboard envelopes, each with a DVD in it. The other option was that you might have had iWork preinstalled when you bought the old computer. In that case, the iWork install DVD should have been included in the box with the computer, in a simple envelope (white square with a round plastic panel through which you can see the DVD). The DVD itself was the same as the retail one, except that it had "CPU Drop-in DVD" printed on it (to indicate it was bundled with a computer). -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz

The Font panel remembers recent choices. I believe it is called "Recently Used". Of course, the proper "Word Processing" method is to use styles. -- A: You're wrong Q: I've never found that to be true A: Because it make following messages more difficult Q: Why is top-posting evil?

I get fed up with the number of documents that I see where the author has used the fucking tab and return keys to lay the document out. They usually also press the return key 50 times at the end of the doc, perhaps imagining that it's a typewriter and the paper will scroll out of the top of their screen. Then they come to me and ask why, when they print the doc, there's always a blank sheet at the end. -- HAL 9000: Dave. Put down those Windows disks. Dave. DAVE!

What version of Pages are you using? I am running 5.5.2, the latest, under Yosemite. You can change fonts two ways: 1. View Menu -> Inspector -> Show Inspector gives you the Inspector panel on the right side, which contains menus for changing fonts, font sizes, character styles, etc. in the "Text" panel. 2. Format Menu -> Show Fonts brings a separate window for changing font, font sizes, etc. There is no need to open another app. I think you are referring to opening another window or panel within the Pages application. As far as Templates go, I haven't tried to create any of my own. How is Pages not keeping your templates properly? Details are needed to help you. -- Jim Gibson

Fonts is a choice at the top, too, but it opens another window and is otherwise useless for my purpose. -- biblioholic medievalist

Get info on one of the files. Choose Preview (or whatever your new app of choice is) from the "Open with:" popup menu. Click the "Change all..." button. Click the "Continue" button in the confirmation dialog.

Commenting here because it's a short one 8-) OK, I have the most of the .jpg files opening in Preview. However, I looked at its "editing" options and decided they were basically useless. New iPhoto is better but still inadequate. GraphicConverter is not bad, but none will, as far as I can see, let me put together a multi-foto page and add text where I want it that will stay put(unlike Pages). Thanks to everyone who told me the same thing I was missing 8-). I'll just have to keep putting album pages together on the old laptop and archiving on the new one for now. There I can do it all in one program instead of jumping back and forth between two or three. -- Erilar, biblioholic medievalist with iPad
