In military integration contracts this has been going on for decades.
In several bids for "integrator" we're proposing (and getting pricing)
for various bits the competitor makes and v-v. In the end you may lose
the integration, but at least sell sub systems and in some cases get a
sub contract for some of the integration.
Or v-v. When you have three or four competitors vying for "top"
position and all 4 also providing parts it makes for fun and games in
the end. The term "Chinese firewall" comes up a lot...

In fact, there are very few areas in which Apple and Google compete. Let's see.. free email services (free from both) and free contact/calendar/etc syncing (free from both). Where do they compete? Google is an advertising company. Apple is not an advertising company. No monetary competition at all. -- http://2blog.kreme.com

I wasn't referring to anything you said. Well, the quotes don't show who said it; I was merely clarifying that it wasn't me.

Android is one of Google's ways to increase its advertising revenues. Therefore, it is in competition with iOS.
