You should always use the best tool for the job, of course; and it does
pay to make informed purchasing decisions.

According to Drobo, the Drobo 5D and Drobo mini are the models that are
best suited for high-performance applications (speed):

Assuming you configure one of these units with an SSD as designed, they
do seem to deliver very fast performance for such a RAID device. And
there seems to be an across-the-board performance boost from the data
tiering technology they are using.
