How would that be feasible for all but the shortest URLs?

An iPhone's screen isn't very large even when turned sideways, so if 
there are any UI elements at all in the same horizontal space, there's 
not going to be much for seeing the URL.

I just turned my iPhone horizontally while looking at this page:

https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/union-pacific-no...

...well that's where what I was looking at cut off.

That was shown after tapping the URL as if I was about to edit it.

But!

If at that point you tap and hold the fully selected URL, it will turn 
into a text drag-and-drop object, you can then see!
