#1302 — ASUS UL30 contact problem

I have since August 2010 an ASUS UL30

I had the effect since years, but now it's
a severe problem.

Suddenly, there is the animation in the middle
of the screeen "Switched to DC mode"

This was before maybe one times per day,
now it can go as bad as it flashes several
times a second.

When I bend the contacts in the plug,
the situation improves.

I think it's a contact problem at the plug.

It would be not so bad, when I could switch
off the animation with the "Switched do DC"
message.

How could I switch of this animation?

Which OS are you running? And disabling the ACPI driver might work. But 
other things may not work like the special Fn combo keys. Doesn't that 
laptop come with a two year warrantee? If so, why not have it repaired?

I would use this warantee, if I would have a useable second notebook at 
home.

Acer Travelmate 800 from 2003 - only 40 GB harddisk, battery runs 5 seconds

Lenovo R61 from 2007 - Hinge on both sides broken, touchpad defect, some 
keys defect, not possible to transport

Well it probably won't be long before your Asus will no longer charge
the battery. So that will be soon another laptop you can't use. I dunno,
it sounds like it will cost about 100 bucks to get a larger hard drive
for the Acer including a new battery. Although you could get a decent
working laptop for about that on eBay too. But you should do something
soon before the warrantee runs out on that Asus.

Is the battery in the computer? What happens if you take it out?
