Have recently purchased the above but find Lprecorder doesnot work 
because I can only record from the internal microphone:  my previous 
laptop had a stereo mix input.  I use Lprecorder to record while 
listening to youtube or the radio. Anyone any suggestions please.

Is Lprecorder 64-bit compatible?

Not too sure, according to the maker's my difficulty is due to not 
having the stereo mix input.

LP Recorder is 64 bit compatible. And it is common for Vista/7/8 sound 
card drivers to be lacking the stereo mixer. This is known as a 
content-protection feature. And the purpose is to discourage piracy. You 
might want to try something like the below link. I am sure there are 
other such software, but it was the first one that I had found.

Thanks Bill
Downloaded the file and have now got input selection of "Rec 
Play(virtual audio stream" but on using lprecorder not picking up any 
recording level.  Am I missing something?

Think of it as you have two sound cards now. You really don't, but you 
do have two sound card drivers. And Windows and LP Recorder should see 
two different sound cards. So make sure LP Recorder / Windows is using 
the Stereo Mix Plus driver and not the original driver.

If this isn't the problem, it might be a hardware limitation. Which 
wouldn't surprise me due to all of this content-protection stuff going 
on. If this is the case, there are tricks around this too.

You have to configure 'Stereo Mix' yourself.

Many thanks for your suggestions;  could not get the the software you 
mentioned configured properly.
Ended up downloading soundtap which seems to do the job OK
