My guess is -with a name like that- that the game's gotta be one of
three things:

    a) a tongue-in-cheek workplace simulator where you take 
       on the role of a nurse giving people injections
    b) something to do with vampires
    c) a over-the-top gore fest


So, let's see what Steam says it actually is:


    "Teeth-clenching stealth, followed by tactical hardcore 
     gunplay for those not looking for a quiet way in. 
     Intravenous redefines challenging stealth-action and 
     will keep you on the edge of your seat!

     "You just entered the warehouse through the vent shaft 
     as you hear voices from outside. They know you’re here. 
     Someone must have tipped them off. You continue to stay 
     in the shadows. You shoot out lights, flip off circuit 
     breakers and lockpick doors. You are a silent assassin.

     You distract the guards by throwing bottles or imitating 
     their wives voices. One by one you pick their lights out. 
     Fuck. You’ve been compromised. You shoot out the next

What? No vampires at all? I mean, it is a shooter -with retro graphics
even- but it's not particularly gory. 

Talk about false advertising!

(talk about not judging a game by its tile!)

Anyway, it doesn't look terrible, it's free, and The Number needs
feeding. Thank's for the update, Ant; may your nest be filled with
squirmy larvae forevermore!

 From what I've seen so far, it's a turn based tactics game like Jagged 
Alliance.  I'm happy to have it.  I have almost no experience with this 
kind of game, which means there is plenty to enjoy.  I've spent some 
time in Shadowrun Returns and that's it.

It looks like you've only the single character rather than a team,
though, and it's more stealth-focused. Although it gets loud when
you're discovered.

Apparently the sequel is being released in a month, which is probably
why this game is being offered as a freebie. There is also a prequel
to the sequel (Intravenous II: Mercenarism,
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2651330/Intravenous_2_Mercenarism/
also available gratis). 

It doesn't look like a bad game, but neither does it really stand out
from the crowd. It's fine as a freebie but I'd never pay for it.

And the name is misleading. Intravenous implies the blood remains
inside! But once the bullets start flying, the blood in this game is
anything but inside! It's on the walls, the floor, the trees, the
skybox... it's false advertising, I tell you! ;-) ;-) ;-)
