I made an image, converted it with dmono, got two files out, dropped them on a disk via ciderpress banged in the following

10 X = PEEK(49239) : REM TURNS ON HI-RES
20 X = PEEK(49232) : REM TURNS ON GRAPHICS
30 X = PEEK(49246) : REM TURNS ON DOUBLE HI-RES
40 X = PEEK(49235) : REM TURNS ON MIXED MODE (OPTIONAL)
50 POKE 49165,0 : REM TURNS ON 80 COLUMN MODE
RUN
BLOAD IMAGE.BIN,A@2000

but where do I load the second file? and whats the command?

thanks

I assume you are trying to load a double hi-res picture?

just add

60 POKE 49237,0 : ? CHR$(4)"BLOAD IMAGE.BIN.AUX,A$2000"
70 POKE 49236,0 : ? CHR$(4)"BLOAD IMAGE.BIN,A$2000"

Thanks to both of you. I'll include a disk image with an example BASUC
program in the dmono distribution. Since I wrote dmono as part of my Aztec C
cross-development archive for DOS 3.3 and my intial focus has been to
demonstrate how do things in the C language it never dawned on me to make
some of this stuff relevant to other programming environments for the Apple
II under Windows. But since I don't want to be tarred and feathered
unintenionally and it's good to see the stuff being used I'll keep this sort
of thing in mind in the future when I write more stuff to play with.

Over and Under,

Bill

If you aren't a fan of the Gimp, have you tried GrafX2?

I am a huge fan of the gimp, but admittidly keep a copy of JASC's paint shop pro 6 around for pixel art... this looks like it could be very interesting

I am happy with Windows Paint for what I do. It's dead-dumb simple and
doesn't clutter-up my desktop. And for some reason it's also on other folks'
Windows desktops so it is relatively easy to share utility programs to deal
with Windows native bmp files without much further instruction. Since I come
from a long career as a Windows and MS-DOS developer and Microsoft Partner
and I am old and set in my ways, it's probably understandable that I am a
fan.

I have used and developed in unixes since the '80's as well so I appreciate
other perspectives but for what I want out of a paint program it is fine. I
am not likely to be competing on the demo scene either... my interests are
generally less exotic. Boring really.

well I have tried this, and it just overwrites the screen, so I get half the screen, then the second half, but not both at once (at least on applewin)

will try it on the //c after dinner

You will need to make sure that 80STORE is also flipped so that the Page2 switch works as expected.

ok looked that up, set it and it works now, thanks guys!

Nice but I thought you were writing a program. I'd like to see where you
ended-up with that... and thanks for the shameless "plug" for dmono.

the program I was doing in this thread was just a screen loader, I am making a game, but I am also making some hardware for use of the apple II, so its on the back burner ... this retrospectiva thing doesnt end till April so it will be a bit (and its all in standard HGR2)

and no problem about the plug, they love it when you post links to kick arse tools, and you have a few laying around the shop =)

Ok then. I updated dmono with a couple of BASUC examples which is good
enough because it's really part of my Aztec C distribution anyway and I
don't give much of fig for BASIC because guys like Mark Simonsen went way
beyond with brilliant products like Beagle Graphics back in the day (how
could I begin to do what they did?), but it's also nice to see these kinds
of utilities that I wrote get some use while they still have a use, so good
on you for the shameless plug for dmono on your own project.

The only danger here in all this is that the history doesn't get mis-placed
when the rest of us do.

I feel myself fading even as I speak so I best get doing something real
again.

Take Care,

Bill
