I see that Jamtronix's HTML version of Bob Sander-Cederlof's S-C DocuMentor: Applesoft is down. :-/ http://jamtronix.com/2013/04/10/applesoft-disassembly/ Thankfully, The Wayback Machine (TWBM) has a mirror copy: https://web.archive.org/web/20131106182736/http://jamtronix.com/files/applesoft.html Just in case TWBM becomes unavilable I've saved this HTML in my git repo: https://github.com/Michaelangel007/apple2_applesoft Cheers Michael

Fellas, W/R/T the Applesoft source code so nicely served up, how much work would you think involved in taking the 'LIST' coding at $D6A5+ and modifying it for use as an 'on-the-fly' de-tokenizer for the AppleWorks file loading routine. I've got the AppleWorks file loading part covered -- I can select a BASIC file, I can load it line by line and parse the characters to make an AWP/TXT file from it, but it's the de-tokenizing code that I'd need to integrate. Alternatively, is there some assembly module already written that would work just as well? I know there are countless 'C' examples, but this would be plain ole 6502 stuff. Thanks. I can plow through the de-tokenizing code, but if you see some obvious difficulties before I start, please pass them on. FWIW, I *know* how to turn a BASIC file into a TXT file for editing. I'm trying to eliminate that step and just load the BASIC file right into AppleWorks for editing. I'll worry about SAVEing it later. ;-) Hugh Hood On 5/27/2018 1:25 AM, awanderin wrote: > Michael Pohoreski <michael.pohoreski@gmail.com> writes: > >> I see that Jamtronix's HTML version of Bob Sander-Cederlof's S-C >> DocuMentor: Applesoft is down. :-/ >> http://jamtronix.com/2013/04/10/applesoft-disassembly/ >> >> Thankfully, The Wayback Machine (TWBM) has a mirror copy: >> https://web.archive.org/web/20131106182736/http://jamtronix.com/files/applesoft.html > > This one is up: > > http://www.txbobsc.com/scsc/scdocumentor/F5BA.html > > >> >> Just in case TWBM becomes unavilable I've saved this HTML in my git repo: >> https://github.com/Michaelangel007/apple2_applesoft >> >> Cheers >> Michael >> >

I *did* use a great deal of his straight 'C' code (AWP2TXT) in my AWP Importer (with his permission), and was grateful for it. In *this* case, however, I'd be using 6502 assembly to bolt on a new feature to AppleWorks 5.1. If I've got enough room, I'll just make it an AppleWorks Init, and it will be fairly transparent. Otherwise, I'll write a dedicated TimeOut application to do the job. Since the BASIC source for the LIST command is in 6502 assembly already, I figured that it would be the best place to start. You will just have to rip out parts and change others. As you follow along the code, $D6F7 is where one line gets detokenized and output. I'd take this code through to D765 and modify it to do what you want. You'll probably want to rip out the column-33-carriage-return-and-tab-5 bit at D705-D711, unless you want the "formatted" look in AppleWorks. The exit part, D724-D72B, will also need to be changed to return to AppleWorks. BTW, does AppleWorks have ROM switched out? If so, it needs to be switched in so the token strings can be accessed at D731. If you're always going to convert the whole program, you also don't need any of the line-number range checks. -- Jerry awanderin at gmail dot com

As to your question -- AppleWorks does have the ROM switched out, as it keeps quite a few fairly essential and universal code routines (called the 'SubHost') at $D000-$DFFF. But, I had planned to duplicate the token strings table and place it in another location so that shouldn't cause me any problems. Hugh Hood
