Hi folks, Like many, I have been away from the apple ii line for some 30 odd years, Im back trying to get myself re-familiarized with the II since I acquired my IIGS. The question I have is I want to start relearning how to program with this computer. Does anybody know where I can find good reads (pdf or online) on programing in dos basic, prodos, and eventually machine language? Back in the day I have made a bbs program (basic) that I went online with but stopped using the apple ii after went to college. Anyways if somebody can point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated. ps I don't have any specifics I just want to get myself re-acquainted with the apple ii and re-live the fun I had in simple programming and more.

As for manuals, there are many PDF versions available online. I would start here: http://www.1000bit.it/support/manuali/manuali.asp (Select "Apple Computer Inc." from the drop-down menu) I recommend starting with the Applesoft BASIC manuals, as they provide a quick way to start seeing results. If you want to move on from there, I'd go with Assembly language, using a compiler like Merlin 8/16+. There are alternative assemblers, including cross compilers that work on modern PCs. There are also some C compilers.
