Seems like for CP/M on the Apple II, there are only two choices: ED and WordStar. Are there other solid choices out there? I don't mind using WordStar -- especially on a faster Z80 or emulator -- my one gripe so far -- is there a way to hide the menu at the top -- which takes up about 10 lines of real estate, leaving precious little for actual file contents. I can't find any mention of doing this in the WS reference manual. Thanks.

Right you are !!! The Help Level parameter controls this --- you can set Help Level from Main Menu and by default it is 3. Any lower level hides the Main Menu while editing, at least in WS 3.3 -Paul

Back in the days, I had written a (reduced) implementation of vi in Turbo Pascal... I might be able to find it, although I am not sure that there is a strong demand for vi (which has been recently kicked out of Linux I think) -Alain

Vi being removed was an April Fool's Joke. The clue was that MS Visual Studio Code was replacing it. * https://hackaday.com/2019/04/01/bye-bye-vi-gnu-linux-distros-drop-support/ * https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/b8djiy/bye_bye_vi_gnulinux_distros_drop_support/

No worries! Personally, I hate these stupid April Fool's jokes because you have to waste even more time figuring out if the news is real or fake. Basically ignore all the news on April 1. If it's important enough it will be repeated the following days/weeks because MSM doesn't know how to do anything else. I mean it's not like we don't _already_ have The Onion. They used to do some funny shit. Some of their headlines were priceless. :-)
