I recently downloaded the Buckshot conversion tool and it seems to work really well for converting images to hi-res and double high-res. I only have experience with single high-res in 6502, and rather than possibly reinvent the wheel going through the learning curve of writing a double-hi res routine that can render a full screen image from hex sequenced in raster order*, I am wondering if anybody has the code for one that they would be willing to share the code for use in Nox Archaist user a GPL license? If so, I really appreciate it! I’d enjoy writing it myself but the game will get done sooner if there is an existing routine available to use :-) Mark *I’m not 100% sure raster order is the correct term, so to confirm, what I am seeing in the buckshot single hi-res hex is that the first !40 hex codes in the output file represents the first line on the video display. The next !40 hex codes in the output file represent the second line on the video display. I suspect the double hi-res hex codes are format in a similar way, where the sequence relates to what is seen on the screen visually rather than in the sequence of the memory addresses the hex codes get written to.

Use Beagle Bros Dbl Plot disk that has most everything you will need for dbl-hi-res. it has a convert single hi-res screens to dbl-hi-res screen program. and a dbl-hi-res plotting program. If you can locate Nibbles Dbl Stuff program, it has a shape drawing routine that allows you to draw shapes created for single hi-res on the dbl-hi-res screen. Also check into Graphics Magician disks for drawing on the dbl-hi-res screen and creating animations. You will need to read the manual to be able to use the animation routines though. Animations require 7 or 8 pre-shifted shapes for smooth animation.

It's called "Beagle Graphics". I think it would only be useful if he's coding in BASIC. -uso.

The code is on github. https://github.com/dmolony/DiskBrowser

If you take a closer look you will see that Buckshot uses my conversion tool, Bmp2DHR (does the actual conversion). You're welcome. > rather than possibly reinvent the wheel going through the learning curve > of writing a double-hi res routine Read this document... there are some links that will help you to not attempt to reinvent stone wheels that been improved upon: Some Considerations for Display and Conversion of Apple II Double Hi-Res Graphics http://www.appleoldies.ca/a2b/DHGRColors2017.htm Perhaps you need to learn to write in a more modern language than unstructured BASIC or machine code... try these links.. http://www.appleoldies.ca/a2b/DHGRColors2017.htm#_Toc471812435 In particular... http://www.appleoldies.ca/bmp2dhr/silly/ http://www.appleoldies.ca/bmp2dhr/sprites/ http://www.appleoldies.ca/cc65/docs/dhgr/dhishow.pdf http://www.appleoldies.ca/cc65/docs/dhgr/dhiworld.pdf You are pretty safe to ignore everything else unless you want to fall down a rabbit hole and be crushed by old stone wheels. Bill, thanks for the reply and thanks so much for writing bmp2DHR! The conversion quality really is amazing. The output format is great too. To display the image as converted, it looks like the hex output can just be slotted into the correct video memory addresses. Mark
