How hard would it be to come up with something to just set up the GUI and
pop up a dialog box? Something like this on Windows...

#include <windows.h>

#define MSGBOX_ALERT 48

int main (int argc, char **argv)
{
  MessageBox(0, "Hello, cruel world.", "Message", MSGBOX_ALERT);
  return 0;
}

(though noting, I would probably not be using C, and I might have to
initialize stuff by hand that ProDOS-16 or GS/OS do for me.)

#include <Locator.h>
#include <Window.h>

int main(int argc, char **argv) {
	Ref ssRef;
	ssRef = StartupTools(MMStartUp(), RefIsResource, (Ref)1);
	AlertWindow(awCString+awPointer, NULL, (Ref)"Hello");
	ShutDownTools(RefIsHandle, ssRef);
	return 0;
}

Untested, of course, and it depends on the toolbox StartStopRecord
being in the resource fork.

Ouch. That would make trying to crossdevelop GS GUI stuff a pain in the
neck.

I've always felt that trying to <any> develop <any> GUI stuff is a pain in
the neck. ;-)

I'm not gonna disagree.

Now if only there were something like Visual Basic for the GS. ;)

Here's a summary of GS programming languages:

Cheers,
Nick.

GSoft. Posted in this forum for csa2 is a Norezframe program for Gsoft.
  I laid out the basic framework for a desktop GS program without using
resources so you wouldn't need to deal with that. Using that and a
little bit of code will throw up an alert window pretty easy.
