There's a chart on pages 534-537 of Eyes & Lichty's "Programming the 65816" that I've used heavily over the years. I was wondering if anyone had a good scan of it. I have the original book, but the print gets a little smaller each year, and it would be handy to have in electronic form. I found the PDF conversion (e.g. http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/images/7/76/Programmanual.pdf), but the conversion is generally poor and lacks most of the detail of the original (check pages 430 - 435 to see the replacement). I found a nicely executed scan from WDC (http://65xx.com/Products/Programming_and_Hardware-Manuals/), but the scan resolution wasn't set very high, and when you get to page 534 (561 in PDF-pages) it looks like what it looks like when I try to read the original with my aging eyeballs. :-) I can scan it myself, but my only copy of the book has been fairly well used over the last ~30 years, and I'm worried that pressing it flat will loosen the binding. So... I was just wondering if somebody had already scanned the chart, if not all of chapter 19, at a reasonable resolution, and happened to have it sitting around.

It's easier to read, but the table is missing half of the information, so the improved legibility doesn't help much. You should consider replacing that link with the WDC book-scan linked above. It lacks sharpness for the tiny print on the chapter 19 tables, but the rest of the chapters look good. cf. http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?p=142722#p142722 for a discussion.

I'm now the proud owner of a 3-ring binder version of the Eyes & Lichty book (said binder also containing the Zardoz W65C816 C Development System manual). Unfortunately the print quality isn't as good as the Brady book, yielding a scan that's somewhat better than the blur-o-rama WDC version but still less than ideal. I bought the Kindle edition of the book and looked at it in Windows. The reference charts are scanned images, which is both good (no butchery of the formatting) and bad (not a high-resolution scan, and the Kindle app for PC disables the zoom feature for no apparent reason). Still no perfect answer here.

I think you can view kindle books in adobe reader, but I'm not sure. It may be the opposite: I know you can view PDF's on kindles.

Andy, did you notice these errors? * Original Eyes & Lichty: https://read.amazon.com/?asin=B01855HL7Q * BRK opcode 00 is missing on col #21 * Column 17 is listed twice; first one should be 16 Not an error: * WDM 42 is missing cycle count That NES PDF has TONS of errors: * http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/images/7/76/Programmanual.pdf Instruction Lists * 10 BLP should be BPL * E2 CPX should be SEP * MVP 44 is missing cycle count 3 * MVN 54 is missing cycle count 3 Master Table * Missing Column Header descriptions for Addressing Modes * Flags NVIBDIZC should be NV1BDIZC * TSA should be TXA * PLDL should be PDL * Missing BRK "00" opcode in column 21 > I bought the Kindle edition of the book and looked at it in Windows. The reference charts are scanned images, which is both good (no butchery of the formatting) and bad (not a high-resolution scan, and I signed up for Amazon Unlimited so I could read a scan of the original. Your criticism is spot on. > the Kindle app for PC disables the zoom feature for no apparent reason). WTF. Just verified this too. > Still no perfect answer here. I've uploaded chapter 19 of "Programming the 65816" to asimov as
programming-the-65816-chap-19.pdf
600 dpi so you should be able to see all the details on all the charts.

Andy, would you be interested in a 65816 version of this table format in plain text?
