The original developer has granted permission to post the source code for the game! I've updated the source to be compatible with modern tools for building in current environments - who still has a working PDP-10?

I'll bet there's a PDP-10 emulator that runs on a Raspberry Pi... ;-)

I guess simh may fit that bill? Dunno about PDP10 and RasPi but I don't

Sounds just like a text file...

(In fact, I've been using such files for "paper tapes" in my Burroughs 220
emulator, though I process them into B220 word-oriented binary files for
simplicity.)

So are you coming to VCF West to show it off?

Ohhh, the illusion is broken by the 80-column references in 1977 code.

Did y'all miss this? "I've updated the source to be compatible with modern tools for building in current environments". So clearly I addd a little code for initializing the hardware and ProDOS BYE processing. I suppose I should add lower case support, too. Then DLRG. You're killing' me.

I've got a DLRG library that would make porting easy... I just don't know how you would handle the extra screen space...

Going DLRG would probably slow the frame rate down too much. I think it's barely fast enough now. But, thanks for the offer. Have a go at it if you're up for the challenge!

Dave,

If you were to write this today :) then what development environment & tools would you use to assist this development?

I'd go with Python - the modern equivalent to Basic in my eyes: https://github.com/dschmenk/LightCycles/tree/master/utils

Probably use it to get the projection calculations just right, then spit out the pre-calculated table of values in 6502 assembly format. But that would what *I* would do today ;-)
