FWIW, I think ORCA/C is certainly the best C compiler out there 
targeting the IIGS, which is why I use it and think it's worth 
improving. I also wouldn't consider it infamously buggy, at least as of 
the last commercial release (ORCA/C 2.1.0, from 1996). It had already 
fixed a lot of the bugs in earlier versions, which are mostly what that 
newsgroup search turns up. That said, there were certainly still some 
bugs, and I eventually decided it would be better to fix the bugs than 
to keep working around them whenever I hit them in things I was working 
on.

One very helpful resource for this project was the old ORCA/C bug list 
compiled by Sönke Behrens, which contains a bunch of useful bug reports 
and test cases that I referred to when making my changes:

I've fixed a lot of the compiler bugs on that list. There are still 
some remaining issues that I know about, but most of them aren't that 
serious. I'll try to get those entered in the bug database on GitHub 
soon, and continue working on fixing them (as well as implementing some 
new features) as I have time. I'd also welcome either bug reports or 
patches from anyone else who wants to get involved.
