That's the same problem I encountered when I was designing a Unix system for
Apple IIe back in 2010. And doubtless the same problem others had when they
also designed Apple Unix systems in 1990.

Hum-ho. I wonder how many years it will be until we get an interrupting,
DMA-capable solid-state disk for the Apple II.

We just got an interrupting Ethernet card last year, so miracles do
happen… :-)
