Paul Have you seen my !Text>Draw application? It places the caret into strings of chars, the position being determined either by mouse click or keypresses (arrow keys included). There is code for moving the caret etc (the wimp EORs the caret on to the screen, so it has to be unplotted before plotting in its new position). Font_ScanString is used a number of times in the source. http://www.chrisjohnson.plus.com/software/index.html#td You are welcome to see the source code for this - confirm a valid email (privately to my spamcop posting address, which is valid) and I will send you it. The main downside is that, although having started out as Basic, it is now in C, using oslib and the toolbox, and being my first excursion into C, is certainly not the best example of programming style. Dear Chris, > Have you seen my !Text>Draw application? I've downloaded it, and yes indeed, its source code would be really helpful to me, if only I could read C. However, Martin Wuerthner has provided a comprehensive tutorial for my limited use of Font_ScanString, as I just discovered (see one of the next mails). I suspect that will be adequate. Kind regards, Paul Sprangers
