That is true if you think of 3.6 and 3.47 as decimal numbers. But oftentimes, with version numbers, 3.6 means "major version 3, minor version 6" and likewise 3.47 means "major version 3, minor version 47". If that's the case, 3.47 could be a later version than 3.6 .
