Hello,

I often encounter these two notions: PAL - platform abstraction layer, and
SAL - system abstraction layer. Is there is any conceptual difference
between these two, or it's basically the same but spelled out in different
words? I've read wiki and other resources about PAL and understand its
concept and intention, but not sure about SAL -- what I've met so far is
part of SDK for communications devices, and basically do some sort of
abstraction of underlying hardware, not only OS. Anyway this is my
understanding, and it might be incorrect, would be glad to hear some
comments.

Thanks.

Mark
