well, this is still more of an "if anyone cares" type thing...
but, anyways (assuming my server is up) a current version of my
BGBScript language spec is available here:
http://cr88192.dyndns.org/SilvVMSpec/2011-05-25_BGBScript15.html
this represents a version of the language I am calling "BGBScript 1.5",
basically as my "BGBScript 2" language effort sort of fizzled out and I
ended up just sort of kludging some of the new features onto the
pre-existing language/implementation, and sort of spec'ing the kludge...
yes, yes, the spec still needs a good deal of work to, errm, not suck...
mostly I just figuring maybe people might want to comment on the design
or similar...
so, general info about the present form:
it currently has (mostly) a mix of ActionScript and Java style syntax;
it uses both dynamic and static typing, but is (sadly) at present a bit
weakly-typed (improving type-safety is a goal along with debugging the
thing and filling in holes in its functionality).
despite being (in total) about 7 years old, due to me being the only
user/developer, it is still at relatively early development stages in
many ways.
it is meant mostly as a scripting language (with most "serious" code
being written in C and C++...).
as can be noted, it now allows both AS and Java-style declarations:
var x:int;
and:
int x;
class Foo { ... }
var x:Foo=new Foo();
and:
Foo x=new Foo();
as well:
function foo(x:float):void { ... }
and:
void foo(float x) { ... }
as well as doing mixed-style method declarations (although this is
generally ill-advised for aesthetic/... reasons...).
but, if anyone wants to comment on the design, that would be cool, or if
by some chance anyone really wants the VM source, I can make an
up-to-date version available (either on-site, or me updating my
bitbucket repository...). my VM is itself MIT-licensed, but the
repository currently also has a far amount of code I generally plan to
keep as proprietary (namely, all the stuff currently related to creating
a 3D FPS-style game...).
or such...
