Is it correct? Server A has an uptime probability of 0.9. Server B has an uptime probability of 0.9. There are four possibilities. Server A is up AND Server B is up: probability is p. Server A is up, but Server B is down: probability is q. Server A is down, but Server B is up: probability is r. Server A is down, and server B is down: probability is s. We know that p + q + r + s = 1.0. Your answer is p, but the answer you need is actually p + q + r. Or, if you prefer, 1.0 - s. They amount to the same answer. I'm deliberately stopping just short of giving you the numerical answer, in the hope that you can take it from here. -- Richard Heathfield Email: rjh at cpax dot org dot uk "Usenet is a strange place" - dmr 29 July 1999 Sig line 4 vacant - apply within
