Metin Aktulga ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Position Description Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral position at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Michigan State University. The postdoc will join a project on the development algorithms and tools for the optimization of Molecular Dynamics (MD) force fields. The postdoc will work closely with a team of academics, Ph.D. students, and undergraduate researchers from computer science, applied mathematics, materials science, and nuclear physics. Deliverables will include prototype software implementations and publications at top tier conferences and journals. Required: - PhD degree in applied or computational mathematics, computer science, materials science, chemistry or a closely related field. - Research experience in one or more of the following fields: numerical optimization, sensitivity analysis, data mining and parallel algorithms for molecular dynamics. - Minimum 2 years’ experience with C/C++, MPI and OpenMP. - Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. Preferred: - Research experience in TWO or more of the following fields: numerical optimization, sensitivity analysis, data mining and algorithms for molecular dynamics. - Interdisciplinary research experience in computational materials science and chemistry. - A record of research accomplishment as reflected in publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences and presentations at scientific meetings. Anticipated start date is February/March 2015. Review of applications will begin 1/1/2015, and continue until the position is filled.
