I'm having a great deal of trouble trying to download a blacklist file.

When I go to

http://urlblacklist.com/?sec=download

and then try to run

wget -qnv -O blacklists.tar.gz http://urlblacklist.com/cgi-bin/commercialdownload.pl?type=download&file=smalltestlist

or

wget -qnv -O blacklists.tar.gz http://urlblacklist.com/cgi-bin/commercialdownload.pl?type=information&file=bigblacklist

it creates a file called blacklists.tar.gz but inside the file
Is simply the words "No filename or type of reqest."

Yet when I go to the site in a Windows computer and click on the link in the web page it downloads a nice file.

I must the command or the link wrong. I just cant figure out which.
Can anyone help me on this?

thanks

Could be a robots.txt getting in the way of wget.

put ' around the url

example:
wget -O blacklists.tar.gz
'http://urlblacklist.com/cgibin/commercialdownload.pl?type=download&file=smalltestlist'

Your wget command ended with the "&" and ran in the background. Your
shell then tried to run a command named "file=smalltestlist" in the
foreground. You need to place command arguments in quotes when they
contain characters that are special to the shell.

Thank you that seems to work.
A little embarrassing really. Quotes. I should have know. I was following some notes I had on this set up of Linux and I guess I didn't have quote in my document so I didn't think to add them.

thanks very much.
