Perhaps some smart-arses on this forum/tribe can take time-off of stalking, to give an opinion of this: IMO interesting query. I don't want to crack-open the source -- again; but I suspect that my ETHOberon client [I hate pan] makes a new connection for each task that I give it for any 1 one-line session. Can you see this from the following extract of `lsof | grep <ETHO>` ? linux.obe 9681 root 7u unix 0xf4836e00 59577399 socket linux.obe 9681 root 8u REG 3,15 191796 74189 /home/Softwr/LEOmenu/ip2News/System.Log linux.obe 9681 root 9u IPv4 59582437 TCP 10.134.40.61:43280->78.46.70.116:nntp (ESTABLISHED) linux.obe 9681 root 10u IPv4 59582440 TCP 10.134.40.61:43281->78.46.70.116:nntp (ESTABLISHED) linux.obe 9681 root 11u IPv4 59583732 TCP 10.144.75.1:40361->78.46.70.116:nntp (ESTABLISHED) linux.obe 9681 root 12u IPv4 59583734 TCP 10.144.75.1:40362->78.46.70.116:nntp (ESTABLISHED) linux.obe 9681 root 13u IPv4 59583736 TCP 10.144.75.1:52126->78.46.70.116:nntp (ESTABLISHED) linux.obe 9681 root 14u REG 3,15 32768 405864 /home/Softwr/LEOmenu/ip2News/.tmp.5.1869 linux.obe 9681 root 19u REG 3,15 26105 393829 /home/Softwr/LEOmenu/ip2News/Oberon.Text linux.obe 9681 root 21u REG 3,6 86 19729 /mnt/hdc6/home/oberon/system/NetDocs.Lib linux.obe 9681 root 29u REG 3,15 0 393804 /home/Softwr/LEOmenu/ip2News/MailMessages linux.obe 9681 root 31u IPv4 59579436 TCP 10.137.50.238:37780->78.46.70.116:nntp (ESTABLISHED) linux.obe 9681 root 32u IPv4 59579448 TCP 10.137.50.238:37783->78.46.70.116:nntp (ESTABLISHED) linux.obe 9681 root 52u REG 3,6 10849 20159 /mnt/hdc6/home/oberon/system/TextDocs.Lib linux.obe 9681 root 61u REG 3,6 10381 19695 /mnt/hdc6/home/oberon/system/System3.Tool =============== Sorry about the line-overflows. Shouldn't it use ONE connection; since the fetches are NOT done simultaneously? == TIA. Let's see if I can post this now with ETHO, instead of pan. That's one reason why I've got multiple IDs. I'm not married to any system, nor constrained by childish tribalism. ipNews.Send *
