A great bit of cherry picking. Sure the actual 'into the grid' costs are low. But by the time you add in all the costs of balancing it, stabilising it and keeping the fossil plant running, and the cost of losing the entire grid, the cost is among the HIGHEST in Europe https://www.instagram.com/p/DeZw2n9taTI/ Shows spain's RETAIL cost after all the extrabollocks to keep the lights on is around EUR 0.315. Broadly similar to UK cost. But we hare cursed with windmills everywhere Germany with more inefficient land based windmills than you can shake a stick at is even higher Cheapest is Hungary, roughly 1/3rd the price. 61% Non renewable. 40% nuclear But you will simply go and find someone whose 'facts' agree with your own prejudice so as to avoid having to think. -- “Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.” ― Voltaire, Questions sur les Miracles à M. Over here big trucks (I don't know about tractor+trailers, harder to
see) have some sort of electric brake. Seems like a big generator
installed on the longitudinal axle. Maybe they short circuit it, or put
some resistors across the terminals. Or maybe they apply battery
electricity to electromagnets near a moving metal disc(s).

They are conventional brakes actuated by electric solenoids where the towing vehicle doesn't have an air compressor. They're definitely better than nothing. I briefly worked for a railroad in the early '70s so my information may be dated. They did have regenerative braking since the traction motors were electric, hence diesel-electric. The motors were shunted to a very large resistor bank. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_EMD_locomotives#/media/ File:CCP_2008_19930000_IL.jpg The resistor compartment is at the read. You can make out a little bit of the fan than was solely used to dissipate the wasted energy from the resistors rather than cooling the diesel.

These are well ventilated things designed to be used continuously during a down slope to contain a big, heavy truck. It is non-friction. No.
In hilly country you first use the motor as a brake, wasting energy to
the radiator. If that is not enough, you waste energy on the brakes.
With an hybrid, assuming the battery is big enough, you instead store
energy in the battery, to be used on the next up-slope.
And Spain is very hilly, second to Switzerland in Europe according to
the school texts of my time.

It was useless in upstate New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire, all of which are mountainous. Most of the tractor trailers I drove did have cruise control. It was very handy when crossing Kansas. You could set it for 65 mph and get busy making a sandwich. It worked a little better since the diesels had compression braking.

Flat highway, mountain roads (better if they are highways, though), cities. :-D Although on a down slope the cruise control in my car will not hold it. I can downshift and sometimes that will do it. Still, the best teachers manage to point out errors without
making someone feel like an idiot. Abusive language may be
satisfying, but only for the abuser. It certainly doesn't
accomplish the goal.
