The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State. No. Its a lie.
WHO said.
"Immediate deaths: *31 people* died directly from the explosion,
thermal/radiation burns, and Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS) within the
first few months.
Long-term *projected deaths:* The 2005/2006 WHO and UN report projected
that up to 4,000 people among the roughly 600,000 emergency workers
("liquidators") and high-exposure residents *could* eventually die from
radiation-induced cancers"
But they didn't die. The projections were based on LNT assumptions which
have been shown to be completely wrong.
There have been *no validated increases in solid cancer* reported from
the liquidator cohorts, and observed increases in leukemia have been
*statistically insignificant* . The liquidators were adult at exposure
and the average external dose was 117 mSv.
Once again people believe propaganda and fail to research the actual facts
In te 1950s with the ONLY data on radiation mortality coming from two
atomic bombs, the scienntists were able to assign a right value to 50%
mortality for a single high dose exposure
That was all that anyone knew.
Then at least in the UK, there was a need for some kind of regulation of
the nuclear power industry. In terms of chronic exposure to low level
radiation.
There simply was no data. So the most conservative *assumptions* were
made, that
1. There was no lower limit at which radiation became essentially harmless
2. A chronic exposure over several years was as dangerous as the same
total exposure in a single catastrophic event.
The nuclear industry was approached and asked if the radiation levels
that these assumption levels indicated could be met to reduce mortality
to something like less than on in a million, and they said 'yes'
*EVERY SINGLE DOOMSDAY PREDICTION* by academics who are red and
activists who are green was based on these assumptions·
"There is no safe limit for radiation"
"Constant exposure to low level radiation will kill you' and so on.
Governments have based evacuation and exclusion zones on this.
And yet, its been known to be false for several decades *at least*.
The pre-eminent scientist in this field travelled to Tokyo post
Fukushima to beg the Japanese goivernment not to put peoples lives at
risk by needlessly evacuating them He was ignored and people died from
evacuation. No one died or has died from radiation.

We need nuclear power, It behoves intelligent people to not 'follow the
herd' of propaganda, but to examine the actual facts and make rational
decisions, not emotional ones based on chimera dreamed up by political
and commercial interests who have every reason to suppress it.

<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_due_to_the_Chernobyl_disaster>
The Chernobyl disaster, considered the worst nuclear disaster in
history, occurred on 26 April 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant
in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, then part of the Soviet
Union, now in Ukraine. From 1986 onward, the total death toll of the
disaster has lacked consensus; as peer-reviewed medical journal The
Lancet and other sources have noted, it remains contested.[1] There is
consensus that a total of approximately 30 people died from immediate
blast trauma and acute radiation syndrome (ARS) in the seconds to months
after the disaster respectively, with 60 in total in the decades since,
inclusive of later radiation induced cancer.[2][3][4] However, there is
considerable debate concerning the accurate number of projected deaths
that have yet to occur due to the disaster's long-term health effects;
long-term death estimates range from 4,000 up to 9,000 (per the 2005 and
updated 2006 conclusions of a joint consortium of the United Nations)
for the most exposed people of Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia, to 16,000
cases in total for all those exposed on the entire continent of Europe,
with figures as high as 60,000 when including the relatively minor
effects around the globe. Such numbers are based on the heavily
contested linear no-threshold model.[5]

Exactly what I said. Such numbers are based on the 'heavily contested'
linear no-threshold model (LNT)
They are not facts, They are models, estimates based on 'science' that
is *known* to be wrong. LNT isn't contested, it's thoroughly debunked
but real science.

Minimum 4000, maximum 9000. So at least 4000 deaths. Accepted by the UN.
Good enough for me.

Sets have to regenerate the carrier somewhat, and high modulation (contrasty pictures, especially in-vision text like credits!) has a tendency to increase vision-on-sound buzz on cheaper sets (especially with the AM sound that system A [and I'm not sure about some of the USA ones] used).
