At least he seems responsive. I don't think anything up to a potentially
fatal does of methedrine would have woke up sleepy Joe.

He's only a year or so older than I. Clinton is a couple of months older.
Biden and McConnel are about 5 years old. Personally I wouldn't want to
wake up in the morning and deal with any of that shit. My idea of a big
day is trying to replace the fuel pump on the pickup and finding Amazon
sent the wrong part. Then I mowed the lawn, not so much for the grass as
to start mulching in the leaves. Walk to the mailbox for another load of
glossy election crap. Fill the automated cat feeder with kibble and open
up a couple of cans of wet food. I'm tired.

Tomorrow I'll probably go over to the pound and walk a few dogs.

I'd suggest Rock Auto for the fuel pump (and other stuff). If
there are multiple parts that could fit a particular vehicle,
Rock Auto will usually give you at least some information to help
make the right decision the first time. For example, for the
driveshaft u-joints of a 1999 Chevrolet C1500 (half ton, RWD)
Suburban, there are three different bearing cup outer diameters.
Also, the driveshaft can be steel or aluminum, and some u-joints
are coated for an aluminum driveshaft. Rock Auto gave enough
options so I could measure the bearing cups for each u-joint to
get the right ones the first time.

Regarding mowing to mulching in the leaves, does your area have
three seasons?
  - mow
  - rake
  - shovel

I have mow, rake, and bail.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. The local parts stores are as much a crap
shoot as Amazon. The problem was the throwout bearing but I decided to
replace the clutch while I was at it. I dropped the pressure plate, looked
at what they'd given me, and saw it wasn't going to fit. Another time I
got a carb rebuilt kit. That time I looked at the box as I was leaving the
store and went back. 'I might be wrong but I'm 99.9% my Ford pickup
doesn't have a Rochester carb.' Eventually he came back with a Carter kit.

Even my 2018 Toyota Yaris hatchback isn't a safe bet. By that year the
sedans were rebadged Mazda 2s but the hatch was the Original Toyota
engine. Of course the very similar oil filters aren't the same etc. The
hatch also has 1 long wiper blade. I had to take the parts guy out to the
parking lot so he could see it with his own eyes. Earlier Yaris and the
Mazdas did have two arms, but not mine.

You betcha. This week was a stretch of high 70s. The forecast is likely
snow on Sunday. I don't expect it would amount to much but one year I was
waiting for the last leaves to fall and we got significant snow in
November that didn't go away until spring. The mower chops up dry leaves
fine but doesn't do much with soggy, half frozen leaves. I'll have to
make another pass but probably 70% of the leaves are down now.

Ain't that the truth. Still I'd rather my big decision is whether to go
into town for another sack of cat kibble today or tomorrow rather than if
I'll nuke Iran back to the stone age.

I think wanting to get into politics is an indicator of some sort of
personality disorder but wanting to put up with the crap in your 80s is
way past sane.

That is the normal process to consolidate a dictatorship or a coup by
some junta.

The real issue is whether or not the junta will hold or disintegrate.

Congress can pass the Enabling Act so they don't have to pretend they

Yeah, but he's going to livestream Hasan's execution. In 1916 Britain tied
James Connoly to a chair for the firing squad since he was too injured to
stand. Brilliant move. That really pissed off the Irish who had been on
the fence and upped IRA recruitment. Hasan is a weasel but I'm not sure
shooting him in his wheelchair is going to be the next Netflix hit.

Trump is simply completely unaffected by any of the finer human

his full energy to go intro spouting utter bullshit with complete
conviction .

His only target is the immediate response of getting people to believe him.

I had a brain spasm and thought she wasn't old enough but the minimum age
is 35, not 40 as I thought. So far the youngest was Teddy Roosevelt at 42
although technically he had not been elected when he was inaugurated.
Czolgosz showed his displeasure with McKinley in the good, old fashioned
way and shot him.

Roosevelt is a lesson of sorts. He grew disenchanted with the Republicans
and formed the Bull Moose (Progressive) Party. He got more votes in 1912
than the Republican candidate but the split put Woodrow 'He Kept Us Out of
War' Wilson in power. Of course, he didn't keep us out of war.

The US is 250 years old and it's time to retire.

Frankly, looking around most people would probably prefer Xi to Trump.

If you get past the historical baggage I consider China to be a successful
national socialist country.
