Its based on intellectuals telling the people what they have to do. And being completely wrong about it. Renewable energy is like Lysenkoism, or collective farming. Acting on them does. i,e,. you can perv away at all the schoolgirls in mini skirts all you like, so long as it stays *in your head* And thats the point. IIRC Queen Elizabeth I famously stated that she had "no desire to make windows into men's souls," meaning she would not persecute people for their private religious beliefs as long as they outwardly obeyed the Church of England. Sound statecraft >> Nope. I was a first class REAL academic. until I got bored and moved to >> the RealWorld™ >> >> > "It's all part of the "REAL" academics who think they are smarter ..." Nope. I am no longer an academic. -- The biggest threat to humanity comes from socialism, which has utterly diverted our attention away from what really matters to our existential survival, to indulging in navel gazing and faux moral investigations into what the world ought to be, whilst we fail utterly to deal with what it actually is.

Sets have to regenerate the carrier somewhat, and high modulation (contrasty pictures, especially in-vision text like credits!) has a tendency to increase vision-on-sound buzz on cheaper sets (especially with the AM sound that system A [and I'm not sure about some of the USA ones] used). Well, the ECC makes the sharpness and colour perfect, until it falls over completely. Obviously never going to be CD quality as that has no compression, but IMO you can make it good enough that it's not audible. On my dumbphone, I can never remember which button is "accept" and which
"reject" an incoming call!>

I suppose I really ought to find out what whatsApp (web or otherwise) is
about; I just don't see (though haven't really looked) how it differs
from email, or at least an email mailing list.>

Sorry, I was just teasing you about your mistype ("dies" for "does"). I
ought to have learnt, from when I teased an American correspondent about
the ninth of November. (I learnt from that exchange, when Krystallnacht
was!)

It does, but it's increasingly hard to find.
Actually, the one I have is a wrinkle on PAYG: it costs me 2 pounds on
any day I use it, however many calls I make that day, nothing otherwise.
Which, when I thought about it (my main reason for having a fobile is in
case of car breakdown), actually suits me better (if I have a breakdown,
[a] I'm probably going to make several calls [b] they probably involve
lots of waiting). I have to use it every 180 days to keep the number
alive, so it costs me about 4 a year. (Vodafone, if you're interested.)
I think true PAYG may still exist, though hard to find.

I've been that way a long time ...
