When you shoot a rat the tail always twitches for a while. Putin's only
hope is to rally his country behind him against NATO. Hence all the
provocation.
It's all increasingly desperate stuff. Put8in is damaging Ukrainians,
but Ukraine is destroying Putin's war machine. And economy.
Meanwhile Trump is destroying America.

Other > sites that claim lost territory are also transparent propaganda mills. WTF is RFE? Anyway US state propaganda is firmly behind Russia. The truth is closer to this "Across the first two seasons of Operation Vivaldi, Ukrainian forces have brought 125 square kilometers of territory under their control, including 50 square kilometers liberated from Russian occupation." https://united24media.com/war-in-ukraine/putin-wants-ukraine-to-hand-over-the-donbas-now-russia-is-losing-ground-there-instead-22710 But that's only the front line, always emphasised by Russia as its the only place they are ever winning.. "With 32 major refineries and roughly 6.5 million barrels per day (mb/d) of installed refining capacity, Russia has historically been the world’s third-largest producer of refined oil products, after the United States and China. However, a long-standing Ukrainian campaign of deep drone strikes on Russian refineries has intensified significantly over the past 18 months. In June, Russian refinery throughput fell to 3.8 mb/d, its lowest level in more than 20 years and roughly 30% below a year earlier. Reported gasoline output is down by 20% compared with 2025 levels, while diesel production is estimated to have fallen by nearly 30%, prompting the government to restrict fuel exports to protect domestic supplies. Ukraine has targeted Russian oil infrastructure since 2022, when Russia’s full-scale invasion began. However, the growing range and impact of Ukrainian drone strikes in 2025 and 2026 point to a dramatic expansion of Ukraine’s technological and military capabilities. In the first eight months of 2026, a Russian refinery was hit on average once every three days." https://www.iea.org/commentaries/russian-refining-sector-struggles-amid-intensifying-ukrainian-attacks "As of September 2026, Ukrainian long-range drone strikes have hit more than 30 facilities and severely damaged or destroyed roughly 1.3 million square meters—or over 80%—of the warehouse and logistics space operated by the Russian online retailer Wildberries." I am not saying that Ukraine is about to topple Russia, but it is increasingly weak, Really all it has left are missiles and drones. And its beginning to actually lose ground on the front lines -- "A point of view can be a dangerous luxury when substituted for insight and understanding". Marshall McLuhan

RFE and VOA are still around and were very pissed when Trump tried to cut their funding. That was one of his more useful attempts but the courts ruled against it. I listened to shortwave in the '90s but almost all of the international broadcasters have shut down their transmitters in favor of the internet. 50 KW transmitters aren't cheap. Radio Moscow became Radio Sputnik which is mostly the Sputnik News Agency now. https://sputnikglobe.com/ I won't claim rt.com is fair and balanced but it's not as over the top as sputnik. However some of the stories are worth pursuing in other sources.

In the first weeks of the war Putin's orcs took about 15% of Ukraine and
still hold much of it.
Not that it's worth having any more as they made a point of utterly
destroying it.
For some reason Ukrainians objected to this.
They are falling back on long range strikes against civilian targets
because, like Hamas, their other options have all been countered.
Lovely big explosion - well three - in Moscow's primary oil refinery
today. Ukrainian multiple drone strike.
Russians don't understand why it's all happening to them...

I see where Sanchez congratulated the Swedes for getting back on the socialist track. I'm not sure the Swedes will be able to herd the cats though.

We are supporting Ukraine as far as possible. America has made its bed, and we don't have the capacity to wage war on its behalf. The Gulf states and Israelis do, and Turkey, Pakistan and IIRC Saudi are all combining to put the mad dog side of radical Islam down. Once again MAIA rears its pretty little head. The Saudis are trying to get the US to take care of their Houthi problem. The Saudis have the tanks, planes, guns, missiles, and so forth but are lacking balls. I think the sharks smell the Saudi blood in the water.

Every American 'special military operation' that we have been involved in since the first Gulf War, which was measured, proportionate and clearly reached its limited goals, has been a fucking disaster. Because it's been done to impress voters back home, not with any clearly defined goals and exit strategies. We, in Europe, have that T-shirt. "Hitler's European Tour, 1939-1945". We are quite happy sitting in the sun, drinking beer and wine and talking bollocks, and we will only stir ourselves if that is threatened. Which Russia has, but Iran (mostly) does not, and where it does we can simply pay the Israelis to handle it. As we are paying Ukraine to handle Russia, which they are doing surprisingly well. Which is a lesson to anyone who tells you that they secretly want Russia to win. We will probably end up paying the Saudis and the UAE some money, to help them against Iran ...the Ukrainians are already selling them huge amounts of drone technology, since F35s are completely useless. Even all the fully paid up Russia advocates are realising belatedly, that once Russia takes over, their usefulness is over, and there are plenty of hotel windows and other high places available for the FSB to teach them how to fly... The reality on the ground, in Europe, is far far different from the fairy stories told by the EU, the US media or the Russians themselves. Trump, Putin and the EU commissars are all equally misinformed. -- "An intellectual is a person knowledgeable in one field who speaks out only in others...” Tom Wolfe

The Saudis can't even sort out Yemen. All the tech in the world doesn't matter if they don't have the will.
