If by 'successful' you mean running a fascist, racist, warmongering,
apartheid state, then yes, they've been very successful.

ATM I'm reading 'Footnotes in Gaza' by Joe Sacco about the execution of
Palestinian refugees (by the IDF) in Gaza 1956. Not something to be
jealous of, more ashamed (if you have a conscience) . Unfortunately, it
is merely a footnote, because there have been so much more deaths since
then.

These blood feuds go back thousands of
years. Nobody even remembers why they
   started.

Israel ... it's been mostly good, but SOME bad IMHO.

The "settlements" (aka invade/genocide) are a biggie.
Nobody dares oppose the 'ultra-orthodox' faction.

In some respects you're correct. "Israel", the
territory, was largely ignored for a long time.
The modern incarnation though totally upset the
power equation in the region. Israel become too
strong, too rich, too influential, WAY too fast
and everybody around wants to destroy it.

Those ancient blood-feuds didn't go away.

You paint it as if it is about envy. The fact is, Israel is a bad
neighbour, violent with everybody.

https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/arts-letters/articles/neighborhood-
bully-memory-holed

The article has a 2020 time line but I didn't have any problem finding
'Neighborhood Bully' on youtube. Table is a right wing Jewish site.

Artists evolve and don't always please their fans. Dylan's
'Blood on the Tracks' was not bad but the was followed by his Christian
period. On 'Infidels' he apparently rediscovered his roots.

I went to a concert around 2000 for old times sake and he phoned in the
performance, mumbling and off key.

No. it was selective violence and was quite bipartisan. Clinton probably
did the world a favor when he destroyed the Yugo plant; the African
pharmaceutical plant not so much. Our Nobel Peace Prize winning president
fomented Euromaidan, leading to the current situation. His grubby fingers
were also in Syria. Hillary was quite proud of destabilizing Libya giving
the African masses a convenient launch pad to Europe.

Trump is a bit more verbal when people fail to kiss his ass. In a way it's
more refreshing than politely and diplomatically twisting peoples' balls
until they fall into line. With him you know right where you stand, at
least for the time being. Tomorrow may be different as MTG, Carlson, and
others found out.

What total bollocks

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will
eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such
time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic
and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally
important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for
the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the
truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

If there were a discernible direction or policy behind it all, one might
merely accuse him of smoke and mirrors to mask real intent. But the
reality seems to be that the only constant is to bully, toady and berate
to get short term financial advantage for his family and his toadies.

He doesn't support Ukraine because he thinks there is more money to be
made from Putin, He supports Netanyahu because it drives up the price of
US oil.

And every single breakdown of peace or truce is a shock the futures
traders can clean up on.

He is in short using the US military to inside trade the US stock market
and economy.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall during the Trump/Netanyahu f2f. Bibi
