I have been using pdnsd for a L-O-N-G time and there has never
been a problem until recently and then only with security
on commercial payment sites.

Pdnsd allows me avoid the web tracking of ISP nameservers
by directly querying the top-level root nameservers.

The web site for pdnsd seems down but there is very recent
information on ArchLinux:

<https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Pdnsd>

I will get this debugged. Right now it is not urgent but
I will dig into it. IP has not changed and will not change.
Therefore the pdnsd code will remain viable even without
an active maintainer.

If not, I can always temporarily, as needed, resort to dhcpcd
with OpenDNS.

Says last stable version was 14 years ago.

You could be using a current thing like dnsmasq. Even bind.

Some, for fun or ego, will try to de-bug
   this kind of mess.

However, regular Joe users, just SWITCH
   DISTROS.

I'm now way too old to spend hours/days/weeks
trying to get around some bit of SHIT in a
distro. When I was young, when Linux came
on floppies, yea. But now .....

Arch, like all, has its plusses and minuses.
Of late I've experienced more minuses than
   plusses however.

Moved all my boxes to MX. It *Just Works*

For SOME special apps, like 'servers', DO
look into the BSDs. Behind the curve, but
sometimes that's not a BAD thing.

Yes. I use bind to serve my local network. And avoid my ISPS blocking

Tend to agree ... often creates more issues
   than it claims to fix.
