   The short ... IBM initially dropped a bunch of humans
   as the AI glitter took hold. But NOW it has realized
   that AIs have their place, but if you want innovation
   and creativity you have to hire hot young humans.

   Oracle apparently hasn't got that yet - massive
   layoffs. Thinks AI will solve all their issues.
   To hell with the damned annoying humans !

   Got Oracle stock ? DUMP it. No more 'vision', the
   bean-counting accountants are running things and
   the bosses are off chasing teenaged trim on their
   super-yachts.

   Some view IBM as old and clunky ... but that's not
   really true. It's always been a very adaptive and
   future-focused company. Half of what 'other people'
   come out with, IBM tech/research is behind it. They
   are perfectly embedded in the industry, everywhere
   they need to be.

   AND they still sell mainframes - those sexy Big
   Black Boxes with huge specs (and branded RedHat
   is the favorite OS).

   Ah, for just one of those Big Black Boxes ! I think
   they're reasonably priced in the low eight figures ...
   depending on options .......  :-)

   Oh, and the Holocaust was a LONG LONG LONG
   time ago. All IBM sold at the time was
   tabulators.

   Now own a fair amount of IBM stock. Gonna
   KEEP it too. Good dividends and a FUTURE.
   Big Biz *can* be adaptive and evolutionary
   and IBM is one of those businesses.

You dislike books, so I have short story for you:

IBM shows well how "good" it is for eg. when Sony and Apple break huge 
contracts with IBM and pay billions $ in order to switch to AMD. Why? 
Because they were feed up with IBM Cell and with IBM PowePC processors. 
They were so frustrated, so they decide to start from scratch with AMD 
processors.

You dislike books, so I have short explanation for you:

You know exactly nothing about big corpos: they exists only due to 
monopoly guaranteed by governments all over the World. Corpos are 
"adaptive" only in order to save their monopoly. There is almost no 
limit how it will cost. And there is almost nothing else worth any 
single cent.

Happened to Ford, recently. They fired a bunch of old engineers, and 
they are rehiring them because the AI can't replace them as they thought.

Are you taling about Orcale or IBM? It seems that
your focus was NOT "IBM" at all. :)

What happened to those Usenet newsgroups
related to mainframes? Why were they dropped
or filtered? Are the messages within them
still alive? :)
