FWIW, I've installed libvirtd and virt-manager, and I've used virt-manager to set up various virtual hosts, including one that is running Windows 11 Pro for Workstations. The qemu underpinnings of virt-manager + friends handle the TPM emulation without a problem. -- -v System76 Thelio Mega v1.1 x86_64 Mem: 258G OS: Linux 6.18.2 D: Mint 22.2 DE: Xfce 4.18 (X11) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090Ti (24G) (580.105.08) "I am. We had problems with an app that was built with the latest, greatest Direct-X. It would fail mysteriously on machines with an earlier version. This was years ago but at one point AMD Athlon machines didn't have the extensions Intel had added to their processors and a GUI would fail.

I'm not sure if any of my machines do. How can you tell? Run the 'glxinfo' command (part of the mesa-utils package on Debian) in an xterm. Near the top of the output it will say "direct rendering: Yes" if hardware accelerated 3D is available. If not, in all likelihood you just don't have the appropriate drivers installed for your hardware. I don't know of any reasonably recent hardware that doesn't do 3D. Figuring out which packages to install to get it can be a challenge, though!

Probably true. Most "users" are, well, just USERS. However if you're writing daemons and such ... nice to have the nuanced options. The main thing I like about systemd is being able to watchdog daemons and such. Otherwise you have to write a separate watchdog for important stuff, and maybe then watchdogs for the watchdogs and .....

Just for you https://dignitas.ch/en/ -- “it should be clear by now to everyone that activist environmentalism (or environmental activism) is becoming a general ideology about humans, about their freedom, about the relationship between the individual and the state, and about the manipulation of people under the guise of a 'noble' idea. It is not an honest pursuit of 'sustainable development,' a matter of elementary environmental protection, or a search for rational mechanisms designed to achieve a healthy environment.
