<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_due_to_the_Chernobyl_disaster>
The Chernobyl disaster, considered the worst nuclear disaster in
history, occurred on 26 April 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant
in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, then part of the Soviet
Union, now in Ukraine. From 1986 onward, the total death toll of the
disaster has lacked consensus; as peer-reviewed medical journal The
Lancet and other sources have noted, it remains contested.[1] There is
consensus that a total of approximately 30 people died from immediate
blast trauma and acute radiation syndrome (ARS) in the seconds to months
after the disaster respectively, with 60 in total in the decades since,
inclusive of later radiation induced cancer.[2][3][4] However, there is
considerable debate concerning the accurate number of projected deaths
that have yet to occur due to the disaster's long-term health effects;
long-term death estimates range from 4,000 up to 9,000 (per the 2005 and
updated 2006 conclusions of a joint consortium of the United Nations)
for the most exposed people of Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia, to 16,000
cases in total for all those exposed on the entire continent of Europe,
with figures as high as 60,000 when including the relatively minor
effects around the globe. Such numbers are based on the heavily
contested linear no-threshold model.[5]

Exactly what I said. Such numbers are based on the 'heavily contested'
linear no-threshold model (LNT)
They are not facts, They are models, estimates based on 'science' that
is *known* to be wrong. LNT isn't contested, it's thoroughly debunked
but real science.

Minimum 4000, maximum 9000. So at least 4000 deaths. Accepted by the UN.
Good enough for me.

Sets have to regenerate the carrier somewhat, and high modulation (contrasty pictures, especially in-vision text like credits!) has a tendency to increase vision-on-sound buzz on cheaper sets (especially with the AM sound that system A [and I'm not sure about some of the USA ones] used). Compression plus error correction plus quadrature amplitude modulation allowed more picture to be sent over noisy channels and still look pretty much perfect, and in mots cases a lot better in terms of sharpness and color rendition. So instead of five channels, we got 105. and the same UHF space carried them all. So similar to cable and satellite transmission in terms of '100 channels of shit on the TV' Some of the lower frequencies got reassigned to DAB Of course, now we have enormous Internet bandwidth, DTB is essentially obsolescent. -- “it should be clear by now to everyone that activist environmentalism (or environmental activism) is becoming a general ideology about humans, about their freedom, about the relationship between the individual and the state, and about the manipulation of people under the guise of a 'noble' idea. It is not an honest pursuit of 'sustainable development,' a matter of elementary environmental protection, or a search for rational mechanisms designed to achieve a healthy environment. Yet things do occur that make you shake your head and remind yourself that you live neither in Joseph Stalin’s Communist era, nor in the Orwellian utopia of 1984.” Vaclav Klaus
