When the Ada fad started I recall job offerings that required several
years of Ada experience. At the time there wasn't a working Ada compiler.
HR people are so cute.

ROFLMAO!

We used to simply lie. But Ada wasn't worth the hassle of learning

Back in the '80s that was a common ploy. Insane requirements and low
salary. The company was angling for a H-1 hire and could say truthfully
'We advertised the opening and nobody even applied.'

iirc it was still H-1. The split into H-1A and H-1B came later.

Sort of like the search for programmers with
5 year's experience in Windows 95 - in 1997.

Heh ... expect "HR" to have ANY clue ??? :-)

Give 'em a chance and they won't even figure
   bathroom breaks in the schedule.

   "What, we employ HUMANS ???"

Clue, pee under their doors :-)

Anyway, had some experiences with Ada. It's
as inhuman as 'HR'. Better to work for a
homeless/addict center than have to do a
   lot of Ada programming.

Hmm ... recently subscribed to CHAT. Dunno
why exactly, but the price was good.

Gonna ask it to write me a mini database
with b-trees ... in FORTRAN ... for fun.
Kinda liked FORTRAN (note Python stole
a lot of stuff from FORTRAN, the string-
   slicing is especially useful).
