No, that will not happen. The Linux people will not create a PDF reader
with Javascript support, because it is a security problem, and few
people seem to need it. Few people do in fact know about it.

Only inheritance tax needed acrobat reader with javascript forms. All
other taxes I need use web forms instead, which work on any OS. Not
likely I need filling inheritance tax again.

There might be other agencies I do not know about using those forms that
I don't remember. The social security for forms related to sole traders,
perhaps.

If I do need the feature again, I have a windows in a virtual machine.

Who are these “Linux people” who are the gatekeepers to what you can
do on your own machine?

I am sure there are others in the same boat as you. Why not pool
resources and sponsor someone to fix the problem in an open-source
way, once and for all?

Surely you have more productive things to do with your life.

That's not fair. Socialist do try to do something about it, however wrong-
headed. A better analogy is the mass of voters in a so-called democracy.

Somewhere I heard that a conservative with a problem will try and fix it
himself, but a socialist will use three times the effort yo try and get
someone else to fix it at five times the price

Mind you, these days the conservative is just as likely to farm out
the job to a crony, also at five times the price.

The way I originally heard it was that if a conservative was walking
along the shore and spotted someone drowning, he'd grab the conveniently-
located coil of rope nearby, tie it to a tree, throw it toward the victim,
and upon finding the rope was only half as long as needed, would call out,
"Swim for it!" The socialist would throw the whole coil out toward the
victim, then go off to do another good deed elsewhere.

Sadly that's a common approach in many areas.

Apparently Qoppa Software's PDF Studio Viewer can handle js:

I haven't tested it, it may work for you.

Honestly, I'm not sure if there any any 'Softies left who get invested
in the ol' team-sports tribalism; it's been nigh-on 15 yrs. since Satya
gutted the old guard, and nothing about Win11 gives any suggestion of a
development staff who're actually invested in the end product. Old-
school freenix die-hards might well be the only ones still carrying the
torch for that rivalry, at this point.

There may be a few hiding in the closets but it is a different company
under Nadella. With the revenue up 17% year over year I doubt many are
questioning his leadership.

Azure, Teams, Office, LinkedIn, and CoPilot are cash cows. MS isn't
forthcoming about the product mix but the guess is Windows 11, bot OEM and
enterprise sales, are about 10%.

It's more than WSL. VS Code is very popular and is cross platform. Purists
can use Codium or Cose OSS. I did find that since Codium doesn't use the
MS repository for extensions, not all are available. I did add them to get
the CircuitPython extension but it had problems so I went back to Code.

Dotnet is available on Linux. The ability to create desktop GUIs isn't
there yet but ASP.NET works fine. I haven't installed it but SQL Server is
available on Linux too.

Ballmer's dog in the manager approach didn't work. I'm reaching but I
think there may be a cultural implication. Indian culture doesn't lend
itself to the One True God syndrome.

I wouldn't put it down to that - Nadella seems dead convinced he's all
the techno-messiah we'll ever need. But he certainly swept out most of
the Priests of the Old Ways when he took the reins.

I've checked out the audiobook of 'Hit Refresh', Nadella's book, from the
library. That's not my favorite format but that's what was available. The
book came out in 2017 but in the foreword Gates is already trumpeting AI.

But they sure can LIE.

Salman Rushdie's 'Haroun and the Sea of Stories' features the 'Shah of
Blah'...

Its far less of a deadly sin than e.g. abandoning one's family....
