Isn't it possible that Android phones identify themselves twice? The
first time with some weird claim, then disconnects. About 30 seconds
later reconnects, and sends ID strings which seem to be correct? Mine
seems to do so. And just at the moment it does it also vibrates. So
twice. Here a part of my log:

Mar 21 18:08:51 ank kernel: [24863.303266] usb-storage 1-4:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected
Mar 21 18:08:51 ank kernel: [24863.303476] scsi3 : usb-storage 1-4:1.0
Mar 21 18:08:51 ank kernel: [24863.303668] usbcore: registered new interface driver usb-storage
Mar 21 18:08:52 ank kernel: [24864.301569] scsi 3:0:0:0: CD-ROM LGE CDROM storage 0000 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2
Mar 21 18:08:52 ank kernel: [24864.416835] sr 3:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 5
Mar 21 18:09:24 ank kernel: [24895.945252] usb 1-4: USB disconnect, device number 2
Mar 21 18:09:24 ank kernel: [24896.221651] usb 1-4: new high-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-pci

[...]

Mar 21 18:09:24 ank kernel: [24896.354965] usb 1-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=4
Mar 21 18:09:24 ank kernel: [24896.354982] usb 1-4: Manufacturer: LGE

So for some reason the first claim is to be a SCSI CDROM storage... Phone
is actually a LG as printed out.

I use a Unix based operating system, which means I get laid almost as often as I
have to reboot my computer.
